A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the collection of a complete set of fingerprints from |
|
|
certain applicants for driver's licenses. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 521.142, Transportation Code, is amended |
|
|
by amending Subsection (b) and adding Subsection (j) to read as |
|
|
follows: |
|
|
(b) The application must include: |
|
|
(1) except as provided by Subsection (j), the |
|
|
thumbprints of the applicant or, if thumbprints cannot be taken, |
|
|
the index fingerprints of the applicant; |
|
|
(2) a photograph of the applicant; |
|
|
(3) the signature of the applicant; and |
|
|
(4) a brief description of the applicant. |
|
|
(j) An application of a person who is a legal permanent |
|
|
resident of the United States, a refugee or asylee lawfully |
|
|
admitted into the United States, or a temporary visitor lawfully |
|
|
present in the United States must include a complete set of the |
|
|
applicant's fingerprints. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
