A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to a requirement that the General Land Office and the Texas |
|
|
Water Development Board conduct a study regarding the use of wind |
|
|
and solar power to develop and desalinate brackish groundwater. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. (a) The General Land Office and the Texas Water |
|
|
Development Board shall jointly conduct a study regarding the use |
|
|
of wind and solar power to develop and desalinate brackish |
|
|
groundwater. |
|
|
(b) The General Land Office and the Texas Water Development |
|
|
Board may coordinate with a research division of a university in |
|
|
conducting the study. |
|
|
SECTION 2. Not later than December 31, 2016, the General |
|
|
Land Office and the Texas Water Development Board shall report the |
|
|
results of the study conducted under this Act to the governor and |
|
|
the legislature. |
|
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
