A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to eliminating the commissioner of education's authority |
|
|
to approve a school district's issuance of a teaching permit. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 21.055(e), Education Code, is amended to |
|
|
read as follows: |
|
|
(e) A person issued a school district teaching permit |
|
|
[authorized to teach] under this section may not teach in another |
|
|
school district unless that district issues a school district |
|
|
teaching permit [complies with this section]. A school district |
|
|
teaching permit remains valid unless the district issuing the |
|
|
permit revokes it for cause. |
|
|
SECTION 2. Sections 21.055(c) and (d), Education Code, are |
|
|
repealed. |
|
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
