A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the office of water and the water advisory committee in |
|
|
the Department of Agriculture. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Title 7, Agriculture Code, is amended by adding |
|
|
Chapter 204 to read as follows: |
|
|
CHAPTER 204. OFFICE OF WATER; WATER ADVISORY COMMITTEE |
|
|
Sec. 204.001. OFFICE OF WATER. (a) The commissioner shall |
|
|
establish an office of water within the department. |
|
|
(b) The office shall support: |
|
|
(1) the department's goals and objectives related to |
|
|
agricultural water use; and |
|
|
(2) the development of programs related to |
|
|
agricultural water use. |
|
|
Sec. 204.002. WATER ADVISORY COMMITTEE. (a) The |
|
|
commissioner shall appoint a water advisory committee to advise the |
|
|
commissioner, the department, and the office of water on |
|
|
agricultural water use. |
|
|
(b) The committee consists of nine members appointed by the |
|
|
commissioner. The commissioner shall appoint members who represent |
|
|
diverse sections of agriculture and diverse regions of the state. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
