A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the period of days in which a student is enrolled in a |
|
|
school in the United States for purposes of determining a number of |
|
|
years for which the student may receive an alternative or exemption |
|
|
from student assessment. |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 39.027(a-2), Education Code, is amended |
|
|
to read as follows: |
|
|
(a-2) Unless a student is enrolled in a school in the United |
|
|
States for a period of at least 120 [60] consecutive days during a |
|
|
year, the student may not be considered to be enrolled in a school |
|
|
in the United States for that year for the purpose of determining a |
|
|
number of years under Subsection (a)(1), (2), or (3). |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act applies beginning with the 2015-2016 |
|
|
school year. |
|
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
