A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the filing of a complaint with the Railroad Commission |
|
|
of Texas. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 81, Natural Resources |
|
|
Code, is amended by adding Section 81.0593 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 81.0593. COMPLAINT FILING ASSISTANCE. The commission |
|
|
shall establish: |
|
|
(1) a method by which a person may submit a written |
|
|
complaint to the commission: |
|
|
(A) through e-mail in a manner that allows the |
|
|
commission to provide follow-up assistance in identifying and |
|
|
obtaining information necessary for the commission to begin |
|
|
investigating the complaint; or |
|
|
(B) through a user-friendly format provided on |
|
|
the commission's Internet website that helps users identify the |
|
|
information necessary for the commission to begin investigating the |
|
|
complaint; and |
|
|
(2) a toll-free telephone number through which a |
|
|
person may obtain assistance in filing a written complaint with the |
|
|
commission. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
