A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to alternative road construction methods. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter H, Chapter 201, Transportation Code, |
|
|
is amended by adding Section 201.6155 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 201.6155. ALTERNATIVE ROAD CONSTRUCTION METHODS. |
|
|
(a) The department shall create a mechanism to test alternative |
|
|
road construction methods that have been implemented or tested by |
|
|
another governmental entity, another state, or the federal |
|
|
government. |
|
|
(b) The department may test methods identified under |
|
|
Subsection (a). If the department determines that a method tested |
|
|
under this subsection meets the state's needs, the department shall |
|
|
approve the method for use in this state. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
