SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 6
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  join the citizens of San Antonio in honoring the life, struggles,
  and great accomplishments of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., one of
  the nation's greatest civil rights leaders, on the occasion of
  the Martin Luther King Jr. Day commemorative wreath-laying
  ceremony taking place January 18, 2015; and
         WHEREAS, The ceremony is being held in San Antonio's King
  Plaza, at the intersection of North New Braunfels Street and East
  Houston Street; during this event, citizens of all races and
  religions come together and lay wreaths in front of the statue of
  Dr. King to celebrate his legacy; and
         WHEREAS, Dr. King dedicated his life to achieving
  nonviolent social change; he maintained that it is far better to
  love than to hate, that one should seek justice rather than
  revenge, and that one should refrain from acts of violence
  against any person, group, race, or religion; and
         WHEREAS, The San Antonio Martin Luther King Jr. Commission
  and other organizations holding commemorative functions have
  worked hard to uphold the memory of Dr. King; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
  Legislature, hereby commend the citizens of San Antonio on their
  commitment to the principles of justice and equality for all and
  join them in commemorating the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
  at a wreath-laying ceremony in San Antonio's King Plaza; and, be
  it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  the City of San Antonio in honor of this special day.
