SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 80
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize Diana Barrera, who retired as the clerk of Nueces
  County on December 31, 2014, after 33 years of excellent work in
  public administration; and
         WHEREAS, Diana learned every facet of the county clerk's
  office while working on her education; she was promoted to the
  position of chief deputy in 1991, and she managed her
  far-reaching responsibilities with skill and dedication; and
         WHEREAS, She was appointed Nueces County clerk in 2004 and
  began modernizing the office and transitioning it to the digital
  age; Diana's achievements included developing a user-friendly
  website that increased public access, procuring grant funding
  for technology upgrades, and digitizing historical county
  records dating back to the county's establishment in 1847; and
         WHEREAS, A leader in the field of public administration,
  Diana has been a frequent presenter at seminars and professional
  gatherings, and she has worked with the Corpus Christi Convention
  and Visitors Bureau to host regional and statewide conferences; and
         WHEREAS, She is admired and respected by Nueces County
  residents and her former colleagues, and her presence at the
  Nueces County Clerk's Office will be greatly missed; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
  Legislature, hereby commend Diana Barrera for her exemplary
  service to the residents of Nueces County and extend to her
  sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
