SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 99

Gene Simeon Walker Sr. |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the |
|
citizens of Laredo in mourning the loss of noted rancher and |
|
civic leader Gene Simeon Walker Sr., who died January 19, 2015, |
|
at the age of 88; and |
|
WHEREAS, Gene Walker was born on March 15, 1926; he was a |
|
descendant of James O. Walker, and his family's many contributions |
|
to Laredo and South Texas have spanned six generations; he was |
|
highly respected for his work ethic and community leadership and |
|
was named the 2014 Laredo Business Person of the Year by the |
|
Laredo Chamber of Commerce; and |
|
WHEREAS, A man of strong character, determination, and |
|
wisdom, he gave unselfishly to others; he had a deep and abiding |
|
love for ranching and for his family, and his enthusiasm for |
|
living each day to the fullest will not be forgotten by those who |
|
were privileged to share in his life; and |
|
WHEREAS, He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, |
|
and he leaves behind memories that will be cherished forever by his |
|
family and countless friends; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th |
|
Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved |
|
family of Gene Simeon Walker Sr.: his wife, Susan Walker; his |
|
children, Gene S. Walker Jr. and his wife, Carllyn, James Patrick |
|
Walker, Elizabeth Scott and her husband, Joey, May Kathleen |
|
Walker, Travis Baker and his wife, Holly, and Erin Albanese and her |
|
husband, John, and his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; |
|
and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas |
|
Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in |
|
memory of Gene Simeon Walker Sr. |
