SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 128
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  join the League of United Latin American Citizens District
  XVIII in celebrating February 15 through 21, 2015, as National
  LULAC Week; and
         WHEREAS, The League of United Latin American Citizens was
  founded February 17, 1929, in Corpus Christi; it is the nation's
  oldest and largest Hispanic civil rights and service
  organization; and
         WHEREAS, Over the course of its 86-year history, the league
  has established an enviable record of delivering programs that
  have had a significant influence in the areas of education,
  voting and civil rights, workforce development, health
  awareness, and community involvement; and
         WHEREAS, Across the nation, the league's members have been
  remarkably successful in advancing the economic condition,
  educational attainment, and political influence of the Hispanic
  population in the United States; and
         WHEREAS, From humanitarian relief for immigrants to
  increased opportunities for young people to a comprehensive
  legislative platform that continues to promote equal justice for
  all, the League of United Latin American Citizens has had a
  profound impact on the fabric of life in this country, and it is
  truly worthy of special recognition; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
  Legislature, hereby commend the League of United Latin American
  Citizens on 86 years of exceptional service to the community and
  extend to the members of District XVIII best wishes for a
  memorable National LULAC Week; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  the district as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
