SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 131
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize Jane Cummins, who was sworn in as president of the
  Texas Lyceum on January 22, 2015; and
         WHEREAS, The Texas Lyceum is a nonprofit, nonpartisan
  organization dedicated to identifying the next generation of
  Texas leaders; it is composed of young men and women from across
  the state who have demonstrated leadership in their professions
  and communities, as well as a deep commitment to Texas; and
         WHEREAS, Jane Cummins is the executive director of the
  award-winning Housing, Entrepreneurship and Readiness Training
  Program, also known as the H.E.A.R.T. Program; the program was
  established to serve Houston-area adults with developmental
  disabilities; and
         WHEREAS, Under her leadership, the program has addressed
  the challenge of limited employment opportunities for those with
  developmental disabilities by working in partnership with local
  venues to provide jobs in such areas as concession sales and
  vending machine maintenance; and
         WHEREAS, Through the years, she has received numerous
  honors for her work, including the title of Outstanding Young
  Texan from the Texas Jaycees, the Rising Star award from the
  Houston chapter of the League of Women Voters, and the title of
  First Lady of the Year from the Houston City Council; it is truly
  fitting that she receive special recognition for her outstanding
  achievements; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
  Legislature, hereby commend Jane Cummins on her commitment to
  service and extend to her congratulations and best wishes for
  success as president of the Texas Lyceum; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
