SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 158
         WHEREAS, Members of the Metroplex Technology Business
  Council are gathering at the State Capitol to celebrate Texas
  Technology Day on February 12, 2015; and
         WHEREAS, Since the mid-1950s, North Texas has been home to
  major facilities of such high-technology companies as Texas
  Instruments, Collins Radio/Rockwell, and MCI, among many others;
  today, the region's thriving Telecom Corridor boasts a variety
  of telecommunications, information technology, biomedical,
  semiconductor, and nanotechnology companies that employ 230,000
  people; and
         WHEREAS, In response to this rapid growth, the Metroplex
  Technology Business Council was founded in August 1994 by four
  former chairs of the Richardson Chamber of Commerce, Jim
  Carmichael of Rockwell International, Joe Snayd of Fujitsu, Max
  Kee of Nortel, and Frank J. Kozel of MCI; over the years, the
  council's membership has grown from 80 member companies to 300,
  making it one of the largest technology trade associations in the
  Lone Star State and in the Southwest; and
         WHEREAS, Under its motto "Technology Lives Here," the
  Metroplex Technology Business Council acts as an innovation hub
  for entrepreneurs, universities, and corporations by strengthening
  the North Texas technology community, fostering new technology
  talent, and creating jobs and opportunity for countless Texans;
  now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
  Legislature, hereby recognize the Metroplex Technology Business
  Council on the occasion of Texas Technology Day and extend to the
  visiting delegation sincere best wishes for an informative and
  enjoyable day in Austin; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be
  prepared for the Metroplex Technology Business Council as an
  expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
