SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 163
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize the Cedar Hill High School Longhorns for their
  exemplary football season and for winning the Class 6A Division
  II state championship title; and
 
         WHEREAS, The Longhorns earned their second consecutive
  championship at the state finals by defeating Katy High School
  23-20 on a 25-yard field goal with two seconds left on the clock; and
 
         WHEREAS, These young athletes have demonstrated great
  talent and perseverance throughout the school year; nineteen
  team members signed scholarships totaling more than $2.3 million
  on National Signing Day, and among them, two early graduates have
  begun college careers; and
 
         WHEREAS, Under the superior leadership and expertise of
  award-winning coach Joey McGuire, the Longhorns have developed
  exceptional teamwork and discipline; as a tribute to his success
  as an athletic leader, Coach McGuire was selected to coach in the
  Under Armour All-America High School Football Game; and
 
         WHEREAS, Cedar Hill High School and the City of Cedar Hill
  are proud of the Longhorns for their hard work, their impressive
  skills, and their fine sportsmanship; now, therefore, be it
 
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
  Legislature, hereby commend the Cedar Hill High School Longhorns
  on their many accomplishments this season and on winning the
  Class 6A Division II state championship title; and, be it further
 
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  the team as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
