SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 170
 
 
  In Memory
  of
  Lawrence Dean Cobb
 
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and
  commemorates the life of Lawrence Dean Cobb, who died January 31,
  2015, at the age of 78; and
         WHEREAS, Dean Cobb was born on May 16, 1936, in Marlin, to
  Lawrence Morgan Cobb and Ruth Day Bladen; he attended The
  University of Texas at Austin on a track scholarship and
  graduated in 1958; he went on to earn a degree from Baylor Law
  School; and
         WHEREAS, He began his legal career in Dumas as a partner in
  the firm of Lovell, Lyle and Cobb; he served for a time as Moore
  County Attorney before his election to the Texas House of
  Representatives, where he served with distinction for three
  terms; and
         WHEREAS, After his service in the Texas Legislature, he
  relocated to Austin and became a resident partner with Bracewell
  and Patterson; he later entered private practice and advocated
  for numerous clients' interests before the Texas Legislature; and
         WHEREAS, A veteran of the United States Army and the Texas
  Army National Guard, he was active in a number of professional
  and philanthropic organizations, including the Texas Union
  Advisory Council; he was a life member of the Grand Lodge of
  Texas, Ancient Free and Accepted Masons; and
         WHEREAS, He was a man of courage, strength, and compassion
  who gave unselfishly to others, and his wisdom, his generous
  spirit, and his enthusiasm for living each day to the fullest
  will not be forgotten; and
         WHEREAS, He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather,
  and he leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever by
  his family and countless friends; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
  Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
  family of Lawrence Dean Cobb; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
  Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
  memory of Dean Cobb.
