SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 176
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize Betty J. Bush, who is retiring after 45 years in music
  education; and
         WHEREAS, Betty began her teaching career as a substitute in
  the Marshall Independent School District, and in 1970, she taught
  music at Gilbert Elementary School in Las Vegas; and
         WHEREAS, She returned to Texas in 1971, and for the next 44
  years as a music educator, she inspired countless young Texans as
  the leader of a variety of music and choral programs at
  Dallas-area schools; and
         WHEREAS, A dedicated and resourceful educator, Betty
  instilled in her students an appreciation for music and a sincere
  love of learning; and
         WHEREAS, Her students grew tremendously from her skillful
  teaching methods, her sincere concern for the individual, and her
  wise counsel and encouragement; and
         WHEREAS, Betty held several leadership roles in the Dallas
  Independent School District, and under her guidance, many of her
  students have received awards for their musical accomplishments;
  the State of Texas has benefited from the diligence and hard work
  of this talented educator; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
  Legislature, hereby commend Betty J. Bush on her successful
  career in the field of music education and extend to her best
  wishes in all her future endeavors; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
