SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 207

WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize the citizens of Houston who are participating in the 19th Annual Texas Lunar New Year Festival, which is being held on February 21, 2015, at Discovery Green in downtown Houston; and

WHEREAS, This exceptional event was founded by the Southern News Group, which has become the largest Asian media organization in the southwestern United States; the festival celebrates the Chinese New Year, and the year beginning in 2015 is the Year of the Sheep; and

WHEREAS, Each year, the Texas Lunar New Year Festival brings together people of all ethnic backgrounds and nationalities to enjoy a wide range of cultural offerings; and

WHEREAS, The Texas Lunar New Year Festival has for nearly two decades played a vital role in highlighting the region's diversity and culture, and it is truly deserving of special recognition; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th Legislature, hereby commend the sponsors and organizers of the 19th Annual Texas Lunar New Year Festival and extend best wishes for success to all those involved with this exemplary event; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in honor of this special occasion.
