SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 267
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize the Hogg Foundation for Mental Health on the occasion
  of the foundation's 75th anniversary; and
         WHEREAS, The Hogg Foundation for Mental Health was
  established at The University of Texas at Austin in 1940 by the
  children of former Texas Governor James S. Hogg; and
         WHEREAS, In the early years of the foundation's history,
  its staff visited communities across the state to share emerging
  ideas about mental health with professional and civic groups; as
  World War II developed, staff members expanded their focus to
  include the needs of military members and their families; and
         WHEREAS, Through the years, the foundation's mission
  expanded to include grant-giving, research, and policy activity,
  with a particular emphasis on mental health services for children
  and on the creation of a modern mental health infrastructure;
  initiatives have included the establishment of the Sutherland
  Chair in Mental Health and Social Policy at The University of
  Texas School of Social Work and the launching of the School of the
  Future project; and
         WHEREAS, For 75 years, the Hogg Foundation for Mental
  Health has played a vital role in serving the mental health needs
  of our state; the foundation is truly deserving of recognition
  for the profound impact it has had on the lives of Texans; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
  Legislature, hereby commend the Hogg Foundation for Mental
  Health on its valuable contributions to mental health care in
  Texas and extend best wishes to its executives and staff on the
  occasion of its 75th anniversary; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for this
  exemplary foundation as an expression of esteem from the Texas
  Senate.
