SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 300
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |
|
|
recognize the BBQ on the Bricks Annual Barbecue Cook-off in |
|
|
Kerens; and |
| |
|
|
WHEREAS, Sanctioned by the International Barbeque Cookers |
|
|
Association as one of the organization's annual state cook-offs, |
|
|
this exceptional event is supported by the City of Kerens and is |
|
|
promoted by the Kerens Area Chamber of Commerce; and |
| |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Kerens Area Chamber of Commerce has |
|
|
established this cook-off as an annual event and promotes Kerens |
|
|
as the "Birthplace of Big Tex"; and |
| |
|
|
WHEREAS, Proceeds from this outstanding event are donated |
|
|
each year to the Special Olympics as well as to fund local |
|
|
beautification efforts; and |
| |
|
|
WHEREAS, Texans are noted for their love of barbecue, and |
|
|
this event is sure to provide cuisine to satisfy the most |
|
|
discriminating of palates; now, therefore, be it |
| |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th |
|
|
Legislature, hereby commend the organizers and sponsors of the |
|
|
Kerens BBQ on the Bricks Annual Barbecue Cook-off on their |
|
|
charitable efforts and extend to all those associated with the |
|
|
event best wishes for a memorable experience; and, be it further |
| |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in |
|
|
honor of this exemplary event. |
