SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 341

WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Dixie Little League and the citizens of Houston who are celebrating March 28, 2015, as Dixie Little League Day; and

WHEREAS, Dixie Little League has been a treasured fixture in Southeast Houston since its founding in 1950; the organization offers baseball and softball programs for children from ages four to 18, along with tournament and instructional opportunities for more than 300 children and their families each year; and

WHEREAS, The league is dedicated to building character, courage, and loyalty in young people by providing fun, safe, and challenging athletic competitions; and

WHEREAS, Through the years, this outstanding nonprofit, volunteer-driven organization has received the support of numerous local business and community leaders; and

WHEREAS, Dixie Little League has had a positive impact on the lives of countless young people; the organization in Houston is celebrating its 65th anniversary, and it is truly fitting that a day be set aside to pay tribute to its many contributions to the community; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th Legislature, hereby commend Dixie Little League for its exemplary work in providing athletic opportunities for young people and extend to all those affiliated with the league in Houston best wishes for a memorable Dixie Little League Day; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the league as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
