SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 346
 
 
  In Memory
  of
  Carmen M. Garcia
 
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
  citizens of San Antonio in mourning the loss of Carmen M. Garcia,
  who died February 19, 2015, at the age of 88; and
         WHEREAS, Maria Del Carmen Garza was born September 30,
  1926, and she attended San Antonio Tech High School and later
  studied at San Antonio College; in her formative years, she
  worked at A. M. Garza Grocery, her father's business; and
         WHEREAS, Mrs. Garcia began her 35-year career as a junior
  stenographer with the Texas Department of Public Welfare; with
  skill and dedication, she worked her way through the ranks to
  become a senior social worker in the agency, which had become the
  Texas Department of Human Resources; after retiring, she
  volunteered for more than two decades with OASIS, a nonprofit
  organization that works to promote successful aging through
  lifelong learning; and
         WHEREAS, She married Guadalupe Garcia in 1949, and they
  were blessed with four children, seven grandchildren, and two
  great-grandchildren; they raised their family according to the
  principles of their faith and were active members of Saint Mary
  Magdalene's Parish; and
         WHEREAS, Mrs. Garcia was respected and admired throughout
  the community and was known for her kindness and her enthusiasm
  for living each day to the fullest; she was beloved by many, and
  she leaves behind memories that will long be cherished by all who
  were privileged to share in her life; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
  Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
  family of Carmen M. Garcia; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
  Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
  memory of Carmen Garcia.
