SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 348
         WHEREAS, Irish historian Patrick Guinness is visiting the
  State Capitol on March 23, 2015, and this is a fitting opportunity
  to pay tribute to this accomplished writer and scholar; and
         WHEREAS, The son of the Honorable Desmond Guinness, an
  architecture historian and conservationist, and Princess Henriette
  Marie-Gabrielle von Urach, Patrick Desmond Carl-Alexander Guinness
  is descended from the famous Guinness dynasty of brewers on his
  father's side and from European royalty on his mother's side; he was
  educated at Winchester College and Trinity College Dublin; and
         WHEREAS, A lawyer by training and a financial analyst by
  profession, Mr. Guinness is an expert on Irish history; he is the
  author of Arthur's Round:  The Life and Times of Brewing Legend
  Arthur Guinness, a biography of his ancestor who founded the
  Guinness brewery; he has lectured on genetic genealogy as it
  pertains to the early history of Ireland, and he has supported
  academic research on Irish genetics; and
         WHEREAS, Raised in historic Leixlip Castle, Mr. Guinness
  has restored his current residence, Furness House, a Georgian
  country house in County Kildare dating from the 1730s; he is a
  member of the County Kildare Archaeological Society and the Order
  of Clans of Ireland, and he serves as a trustee of the Iveagh
  Trust and as president of the Irish Georgian Society, which was
  founded by his parents to help preserve Irish architecture; and
         WHEREAS, Just as Texans take great pride in the history of
  the Lone Star State, the people of Ireland are famously proud of
  their rich and ancient culture, and it is indeed a pleasure to
  recognize Patrick Guinness for his lifelong dedication to the
  study and preservation of the heritage of his native land; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
  Legislature, hereby welcome Patrick Guinness to the State
  Capitol and extend to him sincere best wishes for an enjoyable
  and memorable stay in Austin; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  Mr. Guinness as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
