SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 353
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |
|
|
recognize the Dallas Chapter of Continental Societies, |
|
|
Incorporated, on the occasion of its 35th anniversary, which is |
|
|
being celebrated March 14, 2015, at the annual Mardi Gras Gala; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Continental Societies, Incorporated, is an |
|
|
international public service organization dedicated to the |
|
|
socioeconomic and cultural welfare of underprivileged children |
|
|
and youth; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Dallas Chapter was established by a group of |
|
|
women who were noted for their vision, hard work, and genuine |
|
|
concern for the community; due to their leadership, the chapter |
|
|
has served children by providing such valuable initiatives as |
|
|
literacy programs, food drives, health and dental screenings, |
|
|
and cultural and athletic outings; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This year's Mardi Gras Gala recognizes three of |
|
|
those dedicated founders, Vernil Mitchell, Earlene Deere, and |
|
|
Joan Sessoms Ford; these founders have played a vital role in |
|
|
seeing many of the chapter's programs come to fruition, and they |
|
|
continue to bring foresight, wisdom, and energy to the |
|
|
organization's activities; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Dallas Chapter of Continental Societies, |
|
|
Incorporated, has had a profound impact on the community by |
|
|
creating environments in which children are provided with |
|
|
opportunities and programs that enable them to reach their |
|
|
optimum potential; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th |
|
|
Legislature, hereby commend the members of the Dallas Chapter of |
|
|
Continental Societies, Incorporated, on their commitment to |
|
|
public service and extend to them best wishes for a memorable |
|
|
35th anniversary celebration; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
|
this chapter as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. |
