SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 355

WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize the members of the El Paso Youth Symphony Elecktrick Rock Orckestra on the occasion of their Band for Peace Tour; and

WHEREAS, For 22 years, the El Paso Youth Symphony Elecktrick Rock Orckestra has provided creative learning opportunities to students in the city; members receive the training they need to become skilled musicians, and they learn to use their talents to spread joy to communities and to be a positive force for change; and

WHEREAS, The Band for Peace Tour is an opportunity for these dedicated musicians to bring their message of hope and peace to citizens; performances have been held at the children's hospital, at Fort Bliss, and at popular venues throughout the city; the orchestra is also working with local and national organizations to help the homeless and other vulnerable populations; and

WHEREAS, Members of the orchestra will take their message of kindness and hope to the West Coast for a three-day tour in the summer that includes performances in Santa Monica and at Disneyland and SeaWorld; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th Legislature, hereby commend the members of the El Paso Youth Symphony Elecktrick Rock Orckestra for their humanitarian deeds and their efforts to promote peace and extend to them appreciation for their Band for Peace Tour; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the orchestra as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
