Alane Sauder MacGuire |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and |
|
commemorates the life of Alane Sauder MacGuire, who died on March |
|
1, 2015, at the age of 61; and |
|
WHEREAS, Lanie MacGuire was born on April 10, 1953, in |
|
Wichita Falls; she attended Hockaday School and graduated from |
|
Wichita Falls High School; she earned a bachelor's degree at The |
|
University of Texas at Austin, a master of business administration |
|
degree at Columbia University, and a master of social work degree |
|
at New York University; and |
|
WHEREAS, She found her true calling after studying at the |
|
Jungian Institute in New York, and she ran a successful private |
|
therapy practice for more than 20 years; she was beloved by her |
|
patients, and she brought to her work an incredible depth of |
|
knowledge about art, literature, and myth; and |
|
WHEREAS, Lanie MacGuire was a widely respected leader in |
|
her field; she was a member of the Jungian Psychoanalytic |
|
Association and served as a board member and as president of the |
|
C. G. Jung Institute of New York; she had been writing a |
|
groundbreaking book on the concept of persona, which will be |
|
published posthumously; and |
|
WHEREAS, Though she was a dedicated New Yorker, her Texas |
|
roots ran deep; her maternal great-grandfathers served as the |
|
originalcountyjudgeandcountytreasurerinWiseCounty,and |
|
she deeply treasured the time she spent visiting the |
|
long-established working ranch that has been in her family for |
|
generations; and |
|
WHEREAS, Her proudest accomplishment was raising her two |
|
sons, and she nurtured in them the same drive, kindness, and |
|
generosity that characterized her own life; she had a devoted |
|
circle of friends who cherished her wonderfully indomitable |
|
spirit, her sense of humor, and her loyalty, and she will long be |
|
remembered with deep affection by all who were privileged to |
|
share in her life; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th |
|
Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved |
|
family of Alane Sauder MacGuire; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas |
|
Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in |
|
memory of Alane Sauder MacGuire. |
