SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 368
         WHEREAS, Girl Scouts from across Texas are gathering at the
  State Capitol on March 12, 2015, in celebration of Girl Scouts
  Day; and
 
         WHEREAS, For more than a century, Girl Scouts of the United
  States of America has worked to promote the physical, social, and
  emotional health of girls ages 5 to 17; the organization also
  encourages involvement in science, technology, engineering, and
  math while building leadership skills and increasing financial
  literacy, and through its cookie program, it teaches such vital
  business lessons as goal-setting, decision-making, money
  management, people skills, business ethics, online marketing,
  and e-commerce; and
 
         WHEREAS, Today, the organization boasts a membership of
  more than 167,000 Texans, of whom 534 earned the preeminent Girl
  Scout Gold Award in 2015 after taking part in projects benefiting
  their communities; and
 
         WHEREAS, Inspiring young women to become leaders and
  effect positive change, the Girl Scouts of the United States of
  America is enriching countless lives and developing a host of
  engaged and thoughtful citizens; now, therefore, be it
 
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
  Legislature, hereby recognize March 12, 2015, as Girl Scouts Day
  at the State Capitol and extend to all those in attendance
  sincere best wishes for an enjoyable and informative visit.
