SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 368
|
|
WHEREAS, Girl Scouts from across Texas are gathering at the |
|
State Capitol on March 12, 2015, in celebration of Girl Scouts |
|
Day; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, For more than a century, Girl Scouts of the United |
|
States of America has worked to promote the physical, social, and |
|
emotional health of girls ages 5 to 17; the organization also |
|
encourages involvement in science, technology, engineering, and |
|
math while building leadership skills and increasing financial |
|
literacy, and through its cookie program, it teaches such vital |
|
business lessons as goal-setting, decision-making, money |
|
management, people skills, business ethics, online marketing, |
|
and e-commerce; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Today, the organization boasts a membership of |
|
more than 167,000 Texans, of whom 534 earned the preeminent Girl |
|
Scout Gold Award in 2015 after taking part in projects benefiting |
|
their communities; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Inspiring young women to become leaders and |
|
effect positive change, the Girl Scouts of the United States of |
|
America is enriching countless lives and developing a host of |
|
engaged and thoughtful citizens; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th |
|
Legislature, hereby recognize March 12, 2015, as Girl Scouts Day |
|
at the State Capitol and extend to all those in attendance |
|
sincere best wishes for an enjoyable and informative visit. |
