SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 371
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize the Cesar Chavez Memorial Alliance of South Texas on
  the occasion of the 12th Annual Cesar Chavez March in Laredo,
  which is taking place March 21, 2015; and
 
         WHEREAS, Cesar Chavez founded the National Farm Workers
  Association and used nonviolent means to gain increased rights
  and compensation for farm workers; today, the memorial alliance
  honors his legacy by advocating for the hardworking individuals
  in the farming field, especially the Chicano workers; and
 
         WHEREAS, This year's march is honoring the Texas Rio Grande
  legal aide attorney Guadalupe Canales and a high school senior
  and migrant worker Zulema Lopez; at the event, many of the
  speakers are former Mexican American migrant farm workers, and
  Rio Bravo Mayor Francisco I. Peña is the main speaker; and
 
         WHEREAS, Cesar Chavez was a celebrated leader who is
  remembered across the nation for his commitment to those who had
  little or no political representation, and the Cesar Chavez March
  is an opportunity to reflect on his monumental contributions to
  this nation's society; now, therefore, be it
 
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
  Legislature, hereby commend the members of the Cesar Chavez
  Memorial Alliance of South Texas for their work honoring the legacy
  of Cesar Chavez and extend to them best wishes for a successful 12th
  Annual Cesar Chavez March in Laredo; and, be it further
 
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the
  organization as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
