SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 374
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Freeport Host Lions Club Fishin Fiesta will take |
|
|
place on July 4 and 5, 2015, to the delight of area residents and |
|
|
tourists alike; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Fishin Fiesta is held annually by the Freeport |
|
|
Host Lions Club over the Fourth of July holiday, and for several |
|
|
years it has included a popular barbecue cook-off, which is a |
|
|
Texas Gulf Coast BBQ Cookers Association championship event; the |
|
|
attraction has continued to grow over time, and it has become a |
|
|
major fund-raiser for the club; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The money raised from this highly anticipated event |
|
|
enables the Freeport Host Lions Club to provide eye examinations |
|
|
and glasses for children in Freeport, to fund scholarships for |
|
|
Brazosport High School seniors, and to support a number of |
|
|
worthwhile organizations, including Military Moms from Brazoria |
|
|
County and the Brazosport High School Orchestra; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, In addition to the barbecue cook-off, Fishin Fiesta |
|
|
offers many fun-filled activities for the whole family to enjoy, |
|
|
including washer and horseshoe tournaments, a children's hamburger |
|
|
cook-off, and a contest to choose a queen for the event; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Texans are noted for their love of barbecue, and |
|
|
the Freeport Host Lions Club Fishin Fiesta Barbecue Cook-off is |
|
|
certain to provide good food and good times to all those in |
|
|
attendance; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th |
|
|
Legislature, hereby commemorate the 2015 Fishin Fiesta Barbecue |
|
|
Cook-off and extend to the event's organizers and attendees sincere |
|
|
best wishes for a fun and memorable experience; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be |
|
|
prepared for the organizers of the Freeport Host Lions Club |
|
|
Fishin Fiesta Barbecue Cook-off as an expression of high regard |
|
|
by the Texas Senate. |
