SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 403
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize the Chuck Wagon Gang of Odessa, which is celebrating 75
  years of service to the community; and
 
         WHEREAS, The Chuck Wagon Gang of Odessa was founded on
  March 5, 1940, by 33 local businessmen who wanted to help promote
  the City of Odessa; the group was modeled after the chuck wagon
  cooks of olden days who traveled the cow trails of Texas; and
 
         WHEREAS, In the 75 years since its establishment, the gang
  has grown to include more than 250 participants who volunteer
  their time to keep the tradition of public service alive; and
 
         WHEREAS, The gang has developed a widespread following for
  its renowned "feeds" at which hearty Texas barbecue dishes are
  provided with all the traditional fixings; people from throughout
  the nation have taken part in the gang's food and festivities; and
 
         WHEREAS, For 75 years, the Chuck Wagon Gang of Odessa has
  been unwavering in its commitment to the town and to Ector County,
  and its members are indeed deserving of recognition for their
  work and dedication to tradition; now, therefore, be it
 
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
  Legislature, hereby commend the Chuck Wagon Gang of Odessa for 75
  years of outstanding service to the community and extend to its
  members best wishes for the future; and, be it further
 
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  the group as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
