SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 457
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |
|
|
recognize Joe G. Rivera, who recently retired as Cameron County |
|
|
clerk after 38 years of outstanding service; and |
| |
|
|
WHEREAS, Joe Rivera was first elected to the position of |
|
|
Cameron County clerk in 1974, and he served in that position |
|
|
through 1982; four years later, he returned to the clerk's office |
|
|
to continue his service to the residents of Cameron County; and |
| |
|
|
WHEREAS, His numerous responsibilities as clerk included |
|
|
directing all primary functions of the office, implementing laws |
|
|
passed by the state legislature, and facilitating the transition |
|
|
to computerized record keeping; and |
| |
|
|
WHEREAS, In addition to his professional contributions to |
|
|
the county, Mr. Rivera has promoted the success and vitality of |
|
|
his community by sharing his time and resources with a number of |
|
|
local civic organizations; and |
| |
|
|
WHEREAS, Joe Rivera has earned the respect and admiration |
|
|
of his colleagues and fellow citizens, and he can reflect with |
|
|
pride on his significant accomplishments; now, therefore, be it |
| |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th |
|
|
Legislature, hereby commend Joe G. Rivera for his many years of |
|
|
exceptional service as Cameron County clerk and extend to him |
|
|
best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
| |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
|
him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. |
