Richard Nelson Rose |
| |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the |
|
|
citizens of Arlington in mourning the loss of Richard Nelson |
|
|
Rose, who died March 3, 2015, at the age of 68; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Rick Rose was born February 4, 1947, in Longview, |
|
|
and he graduated from Copperas Cove High School; he began studies |
|
|
at Tarleton State University, and he volunteered for service with |
|
|
the United States Army in 1966; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Sergeant Rose served with the 6th Special Forces |
|
|
Group at Fort Bragg and was deployed as a platoon leader with the |
|
|
Mobile Strike Force of the 5th Special Forces Group in Vietnam; |
|
|
he served with honor and distinction, and in July of 1968, he was |
|
|
awarded the Bronze Star Medal with "V" Device for valor for his |
|
|
actions against a Vietcong enemy force; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, After his discharge from the Army, Mr. Rose pursued |
|
|
a career in law enforcement, and for more than 30 years he served |
|
|
Texas communities in a number of capacities; he was particularly |
|
|
proud of his role as an investigator in the Betty Beets case, one of |
|
|
the most famous murder cases in state history; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Rick Rose was a devoted husband, father, and |
|
|
grandfather who cherished spending time with his family; he was |
|
|
beloved by many, and he will long be remembered with deep admiration |
|
|
by all who were privileged to share in his life; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th |
|
|
Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved |
|
|
family of Richard Nelson Rose; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
|
his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas |
|
|
Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in |
|
|
memory of Rick Rose. |
