SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 490
 
 
  In Memory
  of
  Michael Tovar
 
         WHEREAS, The untimely passing of Michael Tovar of San Antonio
  on December 20, 2014, at the age of 23, brought deep sorrow to the
  many friends and family of this caring and energetic young Texan;
  and
         WHEREAS, A native of the Alamo City, Michael Tovar was born
  on August 10, 1991, to Gregorio and Betty Tovar and grew up with
  the companionship of his five brothers and sisters; he was a 2010
  graduate of McCollum High School, where he participated in the
  Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps program and rose to the
  rank of cadet captain; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Tovar went on to receive his welding certificate
  from South Texas Vocational Technical Institute and his
  commercial driver's license from Texas Road Master; he was
  trained as both a welder and electrician, finding employment with
  the Public Works Department of the City of San Antonio; and
         WHEREAS, Blessed with an array of talents and interests,
  Mr. Tovar enjoyed dancing, playing billiards, carpentry, landscaping,
  and spending time in the outdoors, and he embraced the cowboy
  culture of South Texas; he was also known for his generous spirit
  and for the countless times he went out of his way to lend a hand to
  someone in need; and
         WHEREAS, Although the loss of a young man so bright with
  promise brings immeasurable heartache, those who knew and loved
  Michael Tovar may find comfort in remembering the joy and enthusiasm
  that defined his life, and they will forever carry his memory in
  their hearts; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
  Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the life of Michael Tovar and
  extend sincere condolences to the members of his family:  to his
  parents, Gregorio and Betty Tovar; to his siblings, Gregory,
  Jason, Christine, Veronica, and Elisabeth; to his grandmother,
  Martha Delgado; to his girlfriend, Kristie Luna; and to his other
  relatives and many friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns
  this day, it do so in memory of Michael Tovar.
