SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 492

WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Scott Smith, who has been selected as the 2015 Reliever Airport Manager of the Year by the Aviation Division of the Texas Department of Transportation; and

WHEREAS, This award is given to a manager whose leadership and exceptional achievements have significantly contributed to the betterment of the airport he or she serves; for the last eight years, Scott Smith has served as director of the Lone Star Executive Airport in Conroe, a reliever airport for the George Bush Intercontinental Airport; and

WHEREAS, Under his management, the airport has undergone numerous upgrades and improvements, including the building of an air traffic control tower and the construction of a new fixed-base operation facility that provides a 45,000-square-foot building and two 40,000-square-foot hangars for corporate and general aviation customers; and

WHEREAS, Currently, Mr. Smith is overseeing construction of a $2.4 million customs facility which will enable international flights to fly directly to the airport; and

WHEREAS, A leader in the aviation field, Scott Smith serves in a number of professional associations, and he provides mentorship to new members of the American Association of Airport Executives; he is indeed deserving of recognition for his many achievements and his work to ensure the long-term success of the Lone Star Executive Airport; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th Legislature, hereby commend Scott Smith on being named the 2015 Reliever Airport Manager of the Year; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
