SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 502
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |
|
|
recognize Andrews County Airport, which has been selected as the |
|
|
2015 Airport of the Year by the Aviation Division of the Texas |
|
|
Department of Transportation; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Over the last five years, under the leadership of |
|
|
airport manager Robert Vargas and Andrews County Judge Richard |
|
|
Dolenger, the Andrews County Airport has undergone significant |
|
|
and meaningful changes in response to the airport's evolving role |
|
|
and the needs of its users; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, To accommodate the increased use of the airport due |
|
|
to the regional growth in the oil and gas industry, Andrews County |
|
|
Airport personnel have worked with local business and community |
|
|
leaders to plan locally funded improvement projects, including |
|
|
the construction of a new hangar, the development of a new airport |
|
|
layout plan, and the acquisition of new land parcels to facilitate |
|
|
public partnerships and private hangar development; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, In addition to locally funded projects, the |
|
|
county has partnered with the Texas Department of Transportation |
|
|
to upgrade and replace runways, improve drainage, and construct a |
|
|
concrete fueling apron; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The staff of Andrews County Airport have worked |
|
|
diligently to maintain a safe and attractive facility that is |
|
|
positioned to meet the increasing demands of the future, and they |
|
|
are indeed deserving of recognition for their recent honor; now, |
|
|
therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th |
|
|
Legislature, hereby congratulate the management and staff of |
|
|
Andrews County Airport for earning the 2015 Airport of the Year |
|
|
Award and extend to all best wishes for future success; and, be it |
|
|
further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
|
the airport as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. |
