SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 515

WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Anna Benavides Galo on her 2015 induction into the Junior Achievement of Laredo Business Hall of Fame; and

WHEREAS, Junior Achievement of Laredo works in partnership with business leaders and educators to inspire young people and prepare them to succeed in today's complex global economy; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Galo is a graduate of Saint Mary's University and a former educator; she is active in her family's various business interests in such fields as oil and gas, minerals, commercial real estate, and ranching; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Galo has for many years been a dedicated advocate in the fight against hunger in South Texas; she currently serves as president of the South Texas Food Bank board of directors, and she and her family helped establish three of the food bank's popular Kids Cafes; and

WHEREAS, She has been active in a wide range of civic and charitable organizations, including the Society of Martha Washington, United Day School, and the International Good Neighbor Council; her many honors include the Blue Spirit of Excellence Award and the Tejano Achiever award; it is indeed fitting that she receive recognition for her many contributions to her community; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th Legislature, hereby commend Anna Benavides Galo on her many achievements and extend congratulations to her on her induction into the Junior Achievement of Laredo Business Hall of Fame; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
