SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 546
 
 
  In Memory
  of
  Richard F. Mackin
 
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
  citizens of Austin in mourning the loss of Richard F. Mackin, who
  died March 19, 2015, at the age of 79; and
         WHEREAS, Richard Mackin was born on November 18, 1935, in
  Bronx, New York, and he grew up with 13 siblings in Providence,
  Rhode Island; and
         WHEREAS, He followed his patriotic calling at the age of 19
  by joining the United States Air Force, and he served the nation
  with distinction for 20 years; and
         WHEREAS, After his military retirement, Mr. Mackin settled
  in Austin; he was a longtime employee of Saint David's Community
  Hospital, and he was an active member of Koenig Lane Christian
  Church, where he held numerous leadership positions; and
         WHEREAS, He shared 59 years of love and laughter with
  Shirley Mackin, and they were longtime active members of the
  Austin square dancing community; they were blessed with three
  children, five grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren; and
         WHEREAS, Richard Mackin was a beloved member of the
  community who was admired for his kindness, his integrity, and
  his enthusiasm for living each day to the fullest; he leaves
  behind memories that will long be cherished by all who were
  privileged to share in his life; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
  Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
  family of Richard F. Mackin; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
  Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
  memory of Richard Mackin.
