SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 583
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize Pastor Kenneth Ray Levingston for his exemplary
  leadership in the Houston community; and
         WHEREAS, Kenneth Levingston has served as pastor of Jones
  Memorial United Methodist Church since 2008; under his guidance,
  the church has continued to grow and to play a vital role in the
  life of the community; and
         WHEREAS, Pastor Levingston earned a master of divinity
  degree from the Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist
  University and served at several churches throughout the Houston
  area before joining Jones Memorial United Methodist Church; he is
  noted for his ability to communicate with people from all
  backgrounds, from rural to suburban to urban and multicultural; and
         WHEREAS, He has been active in the community through his
  work in creating an after-school mentoring program, his
  volunteer efforts at Frost Elementary School, and his service on
  the board of Houston Methodist Hospital and the Texas Annual
  Conference Board of Ordained Ministry; and
         WHEREAS, Inspirational and dedicated to helping others, this
  beloved pastor has had a profound impact on the lives of his church
  members and on the community at large; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
  Legislature, hereby commend Pastor Kenneth Ray Levingston on his
  exceptional service to Jones Memorial United Methodist Church
  and his community and extend to him best wishes for continued
  success in all his endeavors; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  him as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
