SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 616
         WHEREAS, West Avenue Elementary School in San Antonio is
  celebrating the 50th anniversary of its founding during the
  2014-2015 academic year, and this significant milestone offers a
  welcome opportunity to honor the school for its commitment to
  excellence in education; and
 
         WHEREAS, Part of the North East Independent School
  District, West Avenue Elementary was established in 1964; over
  the years, the school has seen numerous improvements and
  renovations, including the addition of a new library, clinic,
  cafeteria, and gymnasium; and
 
         WHEREAS, Today West Avenue offers outstanding instruction
  to nearly 350 students in prekindergarten through fifth-grade
  classes, and faculty and staff are ably guided by principal
  Victor Saldana; and
 
         WHEREAS, For five decades, West Avenue Elementary has
  provided many young Texans with a strong educational foundation,
  and it is indeed fitting to recognize the school at this special
  time in its rich history; now, therefore, be it
 
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
  Legislature, hereby congratulate West Avenue Elementary School
  on the 50th anniversary of its founding and extend to its
  students, faculty, and staff sincere best wishes for continued
  success; and, be it further
 
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be
  prepared for the school as an expression of high regard from the
  Texas Senate.
