SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 619
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize the Hispanic Alliance for its exceptional work on
  behalf of underserved citizens; and
         WHEREAS, The Hispanic Alliance is a nonprofit organization
  that offers quality educational programs to empower low-income
  individuals and help them realize their full potential; two
  signature programs, Austin Soundwaves and the Emprendedor U,
  have made a difference in the lives of many; and
         WHEREAS, Austin Soundwaves is a collaborative program in
  which the Hispanic Alliance and The University of Texas College
  of Fine Arts unite to offer free music lessons to children from
  third to 11th grade; the program provides instruction on 11
  instruments and offers music theory to more than 120 students at
  two sites, both during and after school hours; and
         WHEREAS, The Emprendedor U program brings Hispanic
  business executives and entrepreneurs together to help aspiring
  Spanish-speaking entrepreneurs realize their dreams of starting
  and growing their own businesses; more than 500 individuals have
  received first-hand mentorship and invaluable insights from
  seminars offered through the program; and
         WHEREAS, The Hispanic Alliance is dedicated to providing
  expanded opportunities to underserved citizens as a means of
  fostering their personal success and helping them to make
  positive contributions to their communities; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
  Legislature, hereby commend all who work to support the
  beneficial programs of the Hispanic Alliance and extend best
  wishes to them for continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  this organization as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
