SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 620
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  join the citizens of Karnes County in celebrating April 28, 2015,
  as Karnes County Day at the State Capitol; and
 
         WHEREAS, Karnes County was formally established by the
  Texas Legislature in 1854 and was named after Henry Wax Karnes, a
  leader and war hero of the Texas Revolution; and
 
         WHEREAS, The county covers 758 square miles of the Rio
  Grande plain region; the county seat, Karnes City, is located 52
  miles southeast of San Antonio; the region boasts many small
  towns with unique and colorful histories and is home to the first
  Polish settlement in the United States; and
 
         WHEREAS, Karnes County is known for rich agricultural
  lands that support grain, wild game, and cattle production; the
  local economy also benefits from the oil and gas industry,
  fiberglass manufacturing, and grain milling; and
 
         WHEREAS, The residents of Karnes County represent a blend
  of diverse cultures that have come together to create a unique
  and enriching environment in which to live and raise a family;
  they preserve proud and historic traditions while working to
  build a bright and prosperous future; now, therefore, be it
 
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
  Legislature, hereby commend the citizens of Karnes County for
  their many contributions to the state and extend to them best
  wishes for an enjoyable visit to the State Capitol; and, be
  it further
 
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in
  honor of this special day.
