SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 622
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
welcome to Austin the visiting delegation from Hutto on the
occasion of Hutto Day at the State Capitol; and

WHEREAS, One of the earliest villages in Williamson County,
Hutto was settled in 1855 by Swedish settler J. E. Hutto and freed
slave Adam Orgain; cotton crops flourished in the area, and the
building of the railroad in 1876 served as a catalyst for the
success of the city's early agricultural industry; Hutto was
formally incorporated by the State of Texas in 1911; and

WHEREAS, The city's residents enjoy a high quality of life
with Hutto's balance of small-town charm and modern amenities,
such as a thriving education district, a growing parks system,
  and expanding retail opportunities; and

WHEREAS, Hutto has a dynamic, educated workforce and a highly
motivated city government; the local economy continues to be
based on strong agrarian roots, but the region now boasts
successful high-tech industries, and as a result, Hutto is one of
the fastest-growing cities in Texas; and

WHEREAS, The City of Hutto has been recognized among the
top places to live in the state and among the top safest cities in
Texas; citizens can be justifiably proud of their city's many
assets as they look to the future; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
Legislature, hereby join the Hutto delegation in celebrating
May 14, 2015, as Hutto Day at the State Capitol; and, be it further
