SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 655
 
 
  In Memory
  of
  Catherine Geraldine Green
 
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and
  commemorates the life of Catherine Geraldine Green, who died
  April 21, 2015, at the age of 76; and
         WHEREAS, Catherine Green was born on June 7, 1938, in
  Lafayette, Louisiana, to Joseph Watson Brown and Mary Agnes
  Dartez Brown; after graduating from the Holy Rosary Institute in
  Lafayette, she attended Texas Southern University, where she
  earned a bachelor's degree in biology; and
         WHEREAS, She enjoyed her professional work in medical
  research at the Baylor College of Medicine and at The University
  of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center; she specialized in the
  fields of virology, colon cancer, and immunology; and
         WHEREAS, She married Jessie Green after her college
  graduation, and she was blessed with three children, David Alan
  Green, Larry V. Green, and the late Melanie G. Green; she later
  became the grandmother of Meggan, Kelsey, Dylan, and Joseph, who
  were a source of much pride and joy for her; and
         WHEREAS, A devout Christian who practiced her faith in her
  daily life, she was a member of Saint Benedict the Abbot Catholic
  Church, where she taught classes, served as church historian and
  as president of the Saint Benedict's Seniors, and was a member of
  the Ladies Auxiliary; she was also active in the community as a
  volunteer with Child Advocates of Houston and the Leukemia
  Lymphoma Society; and
         WHEREAS, A woman of courage, strength, and compassion, she
  gave generously to others, and her wisdom, warmth, and valued
  counsel will not be forgotten; and
         WHEREAS, She was devoted to her family and friends, and she
  leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever by all who
  were privileged to share in her life; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
  Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
  family of Catherine Geraldine Green; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
  Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
  memory of Catherine Geraldine Green.
