SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 691
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |
|
|
recognize Lillie Mae Wieding for her many contributions to the |
|
|
Three Rivers community and her exceptional service as president |
|
|
of First State Bank; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Lillie Mae Wieding was valedictorian of her |
|
|
graduating class at Three Rivers High School; she began her |
|
|
career at First State Bank as a bookkeeper in 1951, when bank |
|
|
records were kept in hand-written ledger books and the terms of a |
|
|
home loan fit on a single page; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Through the years, she learned the details of the |
|
|
banking business by working in a wide variety of positions; she |
|
|
served as a cashier, teller, loan officer, and vice president; |
|
|
she was elected to the board of directors and named bank |
|
|
president in 1990; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Under her outstanding leadership, the bank |
|
|
continued to grow and prosper and to play an important role in the |
|
|
life of the community; she established the annual tradition of |
|
|
the bank's free holiday dinner, and she helped many people to |
|
|
maintain their businesses; in addition, she has served on |
|
|
numerous community boards, has been a member of many |
|
|
organizations and clubs, and is a lifetime member of Our Savior |
|
|
Lutheran Church; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, An exemplary lady, she is beloved and respected by |
|
|
area citizens, and it is truly fitting that she receive special |
|
|
recognition for her generous spirit and her many achievements; |
|
|
now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th |
|
|
Legislature, hereby commend Lillie Mae Wieding on her |
|
|
exceptional contributions to the people of Three Rivers as a |
|
|
community leader and as president of First State Bank and extend |
|
|
to her best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
|
her as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate. |
