SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 736

WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Detta Haffelder on the grand occasion of her birthday on May 13, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Detta Haffelder is a lifelong, die-hard Texan who was born in Marble Falls to Ray Ira "Bunny" Gibson and the former Essie Odessa Wimberly; she moved to Austin in 1959 and met the love of her life, William Donn "Donnie" Haffelder, while visiting Barton Springs Pool; and

WHEREAS, Detta and Donnie married in 1963, and they have been blessed with a wonderful family; their children, Lisa and David, their grandsons, Austin and Dylan, and their great-grandson, Marshall, are a source of much pride and joy; and

WHEREAS, During her longtime career with the Texas Senate, Detta has become something of a local celebrity; she is known for her generous spirit and is well liked by all who serve in the Capitol; she has been recognized as "Honorary Doorkeeper in the Texas Senate" and is a recipient of the coveted Betty King Public Service Award; and

WHEREAS, Detta Haffelder is respected and admired by many; she can brighten a stranger's day with her kindness, her charm, and her warm and engaging personality; she is beloved by her co-workers and her many friends, and her birthday is indeed cause for much celebration; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th Legislature, hereby honor Detta Haffelder as a treasured citizen of this state and extend to her best wishes for a memorable birthday celebration; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her as a memento of this special day.
