SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 805
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize Wesley Pickett Dorough for his outstanding service to
  the nation during World War II and for his long career in public
  service; and
         WHEREAS, Wesley Dorough entered into military service as a
  member of the United States Army in January of 1943; after
  completing his basic training in Saint Louis, Missouri, he went
  on maneuvers near the Snake River in Idaho, where he worked on
  runway construction projects in the mountains before being
  deployed to the Azores Islands, where his unit built control
  towers and runways; and
         WHEREAS, He later took part in building a hospital on the
  strategically important island of Okinawa; his unit was
  preparing for the invasion of the Japanese home islands when the
  deployment of two atomic bombs led to the end of the war; and
         WHEREAS, After his discharge, he returned home to Cotulla
  and entered into a career in the construction trades; he built
  numerous homes and worked on several commercial buildings, and he
  also taught woodworking at the Veterans School; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Dorough joined the Texas Department of Public
  Safety in 1954 and served in communications for nearly three
  decades; he is truly deserving of recognition for his many years
  of dedicated public service; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
  Legislature, hereby commend Wesley Pickett Dorough on his
  exceptional service to the nation during World War II and on his
  distinguished career with the state; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
