SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 830
         WHEREAS, Bennie L. Cole is retiring from his position as
  secretary of the Northside Independent School District Board of
  Trustees in 2015; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Cole was elected to the school board in 2011,
  and during his term, he has served as chair of its Technology
  Committee and as a member of its Building and Policy and
  Intergovernmental Relations Committees; moreover, he has been
  the board's representative to the Northside Education Foundation,
  of which he is a founding member and a past president; and
         WHEREAS, This esteemed civic leader has further given of
  his time and talents as vice chair of the San Antonio Zoning
  Commission, as a director and trustee of the San Antonio Local
  Development Company, and as a member of the Downtown Housing
  Trust Fund Committee, the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Commission
  Scholarship Committee, the Alamo Colleges Bond Committee,
  Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 76, the Tuskegee Airmen, Inc.,
  the Federal Bureau of Investigation San Antonio Citizens Academy
  Alumni Association, and the San Antonio Zulu Association; and
         WHEREAS, In recognition of his community involvement,
  Mr. Cole has received a Humanitarian of the Year Award from the
  San Antonio Police Officers Association, a Certificate of Merit
  from the San Antonio Police Department, a Leadership Award from
  the United Negro College Fund, and a San Antonio Black
  Achievement Award for Public Service, as well as a Distinguished
  Alumni Award from the Brenham Independent School District, an
  Amazing Energy Award from CPS Energy, and a Legend Award from the
  National Coalition of 100 Black Women; and
         WHEREAS, In all of his endeavors, Mr. Cole is blessed with
  the love and support of his wife, Edith Cole, and he takes
  tremendous pride in their son and their six grandchildren; and
         WHEREAS, Through his unwavering dedication to the students
  and staff of Northside Independent School District, Bennie Cole
  has helped foster a supportive and challenging educational
  environment, and in so doing, he has earned the lasting respect
  and appreciation of his fellow residents; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
  Legislature, hereby commend Bennie L. Cole for his exemplary
  service as secretary of the Northside Independent School
  District Board of Trustees and extend to him sincere best wishes
  for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Cole as an expression of high regard from the
  Texas Senate.
