SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 834
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize Dr. Thalia Matherson on the occasion of her 2015
  induction into the African American Educators Hall of Fame; and
 
         WHEREAS, Dr. Matherson has served as a teacher, assistant
  principal, principal, and district administrator, and she is
  noted in particular for her skill in merging the worlds of
  education and community service; and
 
         WHEREAS, Over the course of more than 20 years with the
  Dallas Independent School District, Dr. Matherson also served as
  a recruiter and as a facilitator for principal staff development;
  she was a member of the Superintendent's Council and served as
  president of the Dallas School Administrators Association; and
 
         WHEREAS, Dr. Matherson's civic involvement has included
  membership and positions of leadership in an array of organizations,
  including Southern Methodist University, Huston-Tillotson University,
  the Dallas Women's Foundation, the Dallas Retired Teachers
  Association, the North Texas Conference of United Methodist Women, and
  the Trinity Chapter of The Links, Incorporated; it is indeed fitting
  that she receive recognition for her many accomplishments; now,
  therefore, be it
 
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
  Legislature, hereby commend Dr. Thalia Matherson on her
  commitment to excellence in education and extend congratulations
  to her on her induction into the African American Educators Hall
  of Fame; and, be it further
 
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
