SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 839
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  honor the late Cleveland Burton Jackson on the occasion of his
  2015 posthumous induction into the African American Educators
  Hall of Fame; and
         WHEREAS, Cleveland Jackson served the Dallas Independent
  School District for nearly 40 years; after teaching at Sequoyah
  and Thomas C. Marsh Junior High Schools and at W. H. Adamson High
  School, he joined the faculty at Lincoln High School, where his
  ability to bring real-world experiences to the mathematics
  classroom sparked a genuine interest in the subject among
  countless students; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Jackson also served as a coach for athletic
  and academic teams and was a faculty sponsor for a wide variety of
  student organizations; he was a pioneer in the use of computers
  in mathematics classes, and he led such student initiatives as
  the Silent Souls Project to restore Glen Oaks Cemetery and the
  efforts to rename a campus building the Napoleon B. Lewis
  Mathematics and Science Annex; and
         WHEREAS, Cleveland Jackson was beloved by many generations
  of Lincoln High School students for his skillful teaching
  methods, his sincere concern for the individual, and his wise
  counsel and encouragement; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
  Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the life and legacy of the
  late Cleveland Burton Jackson, who has been posthumously
  inducted into the African American Educators Hall of Fame; and,
  be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  his family as an expression of highest regard from the Texas Senate.
