SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 843
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize Ruby Johnson Abel, who was inducted into the African
  American Educators Hall of Fame on April 18, 2015; and
 
         WHEREAS, Ruby Abel has served the Dallas Independent
  School District for more than three decades; she began her
  teaching career at John Henry Brown Elementary School in 1966 and
  was soon recruited into the administrative ranks; and
 
         WHEREAS, In 1974, she was recognized as one of the
  district's youngest administrators while serving as assistant
  principal at Charles Rice Elementary School, and she has since
  served in administrative posts at Lisbon, Fannie C. Harris, and
  John Neely Bryan Elementary Schools; and
 
         WHEREAS, A distinguished leader in her field, Ruby Abel
  was recognized by the Texas Legislative Black Caucus in 1989
  for her exceptional contributions to the field of education;
  she has served as a peer evaluator, and she was appointed to
  serve on the Texas Education Agency's Texas School Improvement
  Initiative; and
 
         WHEREAS, Ruby Abel is an exemplary administrator who holds
  a reputation for excellence, and she is indeed deserving of
  recognition for her achievements; now, therefore, be it
 
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
  Legislature, hereby commend Ruby Johnson Abel on her many
  educational contributions to our state and congratulate her on
  her 2015 induction into the African American Educators Hall of
  Fame; and, be it further
 
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
