SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 951
 
 
  In Memory
  of
  Morris Schuler Nelson
 
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens
  of Fort Worth in mourning the loss of Morris Schuler Nelson, who
  died December 13, 2013, at the age of 78; and
         WHEREAS, Schuler Nelson was born December 16, 1934, in Waco;
  he served as a cadet lieutenant colonel in the Reserve Officers'
  Training Corps at Texas Western College, and he graduated as a
  distinguished military graduate with a bachelor's degree in mining
  engineering in 1957; and
         WHEREAS, After college, Mr. Nelson served his country with
  distinction in active duty for six months and as a reservist for
  eight years; he began his career in construction with the Austin
  Road Company, a major highway contractor; he was president of the
  company, and he retired after 34 years of outstanding service; and
         WHEREAS, A well-known leader in his field, he served as a
  board member and president of the Texas Chapter of the Associated
  General Contractors of America and the Texas Hot Mix Asphalt
  Pavement Association; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Nelson was a man of spiritual depth and a
  member of Trinity Lutheran Church for 50 years; he was a member of
  the board of the Trinity Lutheran Children's Center and chairman
  of the Endowment Committee; and
         WHEREAS, Schuler Nelson was a devoted husband, father, and
  grandfather who was beloved by many, and he leaves behind memories
  that will long be cherished by all who were privileged to share in
  his life; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
  Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
  family of Morris Schuler Nelson; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
  Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
  memory of Schuler Nelson.
